    Three trails shared a route that passed through the Kansas City area heading west - the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California trails. When trail travelers reached Gardner Junction, they knew that those traveling the Santa Fe Trail would head across much of Kansas and then south to Santa Fe. Those following the Oregon or California trails knew to follow their trails northwest.


    Now you will travel the same routes as the traders and pioneers. You will encounter the vast open spaces of the West as well as American, American Indian, Spanish, and Hispanic cultures.
